What is the adoption fee?

Adoption fees are $225 for dogs and $200 for cats under 5 years old and $125 for cats older than 5 years old.

What is included in the adoption fee?

The adoption fee includes the pet's spay/neuter, vaccinations appropriate for their age, a fecal parasite exam, heartworm test, microchip and any other necessary treatments including dentals or heartworm treatment.

Where can I get more information on the pet I'm interested in?

Our pets have bios under the "Adoption" tab. Pictures and videos are also regularly updated on our Facebook page. If you are interested beyond that, please fill out an application and we will be in contact with you.

Is that stray available for adoption? I'm interested!

Any stray that comes in to GCHS are posted online to first try and find its home. After one hour, vaccinations are given to the stray. Strays are on hold for four days in order to give the owners time to claim them. After four days, the stray becomes the property of GCHS. It will be spayed/neutered, processed and than placed up for adoption. Adoptions are not done on a first come first serve basis but on the best interests of the animal.

Does this pet get along with children/cats/dogs?

This information is located in the pet's biography under their picture. If the information is not mentioned, it means we do not know.

How do I apply for a pet?

Under the "Adoption" tab is a link to the adoption application. Fill out the Google form and hit submit to get it to GCHS staff for processing.

What is the adoption process?

An application is filled out and then vetted by our staff to ensure that the applicant has a good standing veterinary record and would be a good fit for the individual pet that they are applying for. Once an application is approved, our staff will contact the applicant to set up a meeting. For dogs, any other dogs in the home must come in for the meet and greet. We prefer for everyone in the home to be present for the meet and greet. If all goes well at this meeting, an adoption can happen the same day or an appointment can be scheduled for later in the same week.

Can I stop in anytime to visit the animals?

We are only allowing meetings with approved applicants. If you are interested in a pet, fill out an application and wait for us to contact you. At this time, we are not allowing walk-ins.
